We’ve all seen or use those solar garden pathway and landscape lights in people’s front yards or lined up along the sidewalk or driveway. They add light and ambiance to those spaces and you can do the same on your boat, sailboat, yacht, or pontoon boat. There’s no difference in how the operate, they’re exposed to sunlight and charge during the day…and when it gets dark they come on and, presto!, you have light. The difference is that solar garden and landscape lights have a spike at the bottom so they can be shoved into the ground. Rail lights, on the other hand, feature an adjustable rail grip clamp that fits the rails of your boat and allows you to tighten it to the rail. Then, when the sun goes down, the LED lights come on and splash warm light around the perimeter of your vessel, creating ambiance and safety as you move about the craft.
